> **Quinceañera choreography in Brownsville:** Fusion Latina Dance Studio and Fitness, 2675 E Price Rd, Suite B2, Brownsville, TX 78521, offers vals and surprise dance choreography and rehearsals for the quinceañera, chambelanes and damas.

## Dances at a quinceañera

- **Vals:** the traditional waltz with the quinceañera and her chambelanes, often to a classic waltz or ballad.
- **Father-daughter dance:** a slow dance, sometimes with a short choreographed section.
- **Baile sorpresa:** the surprise dance, a high-energy mix of songs with salsa, bachata, cumbia, hip-hop and reggaetón.

## Rehearsal timeline

| When | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **3 months out** | Pick songs, confirm the court, book rehearsals |
| **2–3 months out** | Weekly rehearsals to learn the vals and surprise dance |
| **1 month out** | Run-throughs, formations, entrances and exits |
| **Final week** | Dress rehearsal in shoes and dress, at the venue if possible |

## Tips for families

- Confirm every chambelán and dama can attend most rehearsals before you commit.
- Finalize the music mix early. Changes late in rehearsals cost time.
- Practice the vals in the actual dress. Big skirts change how turns work.

## Frequently asked questions

### When should we start quinceañera dance rehearsals?

Two to three months before the event is typical for a vals and surprise dance with a full court.

Yes. The baile sorpresa is usually built around a mix the family chooses.

### Are rehearsals in English or Spanish?

Ask the studio. Bilingual instruction is common in Brownsville.
